Prior to entering the golf business, President and founder of Sunrise Golf Mark Tansey worked as an executive in both the association management and facility management industries. Leveraging this experience, Mark joined American Golf, the world's largest golf management company, in 1995. Working his way from a single course operator, Mark ultimately had responsibility for 72 clubs with combined Income of $220 million and Net Operating Income of over $80 million. Along the way he personally pioneered the development of new resources for maximizing golf course profitability on a national scale including the:
Public Golf Course Evaluation Process
Public Golf Course Best Practices Manual
Minimum Operating Standards Guide
Front-line Training System for all Public Golf Course Co-workers
Coaching Program for all Public and Private Golf Course Managers
POWER Walk program for all Public and Private Course Managers

After seven years with AGC, Mark was recruited by and joined Walters Golf, the largest golf course operator in Nevada, as their Executive Vice President. As the result of his technology initiatives and relationship development experience Mark successfully helped this portfolio of high-end resort facilities stop a trend of eroding market share despite dramatically increasing competition and the lingering impact of 9/11. He then joined Leisure Industries, a time share and land development company, as their Vice President of Golf Operations. In this role Mark oversaw the acquisition of the company’s first golf course and created an operating division within the company to support additional properties.
A Cum Laude graduate of the University of Toledo, Mark has been directly involved with the profitability of literally hundreds of courses and his systems and resources continue to be utilized at facilities around the country today. His extremely broad experience has helped him to build one of the largest knowledge bases of best practices in the entire industry.
